With this 2 in 1 crochet pattern you can make a vest or cardigan. After making the vest you still can decide. Crochet the 'Fifties Vest/Cardigan' using this crochet pattern in PDF format.This pattern contains explained written instructions in English and uses US crochet terminology. MATERIALS

  • Used yarn: Acrylic yarn (50g/150m), color of choice, 8 balls for size S-M or less/more if you want your cardigan smaller/larger or if you want to use another yarn.
  • Size 3.5 mm (US E/4, UK 9) crochet hook or size needed to obtain gauge. Or use a crochet hook that's needed for your yarn/size. When you use a larger crochet hook, the size of the vest will be larger too.
  • RowCounter
  • 7 Stitch markers
  • Yarn needle
  • scissors


MEASUREMENTS

This vest/cardigan is size S-M. The pattern can be adjusted to other sizes by changing the size of your crochet hook, but this is not tested.

 

GAUGE

19sc and 20 rows = 10x10 cm (=4x4 inches).
Granny square: 5 rounds, step 1 till 4 = 10x10 cm (=4x4 inch).

ABBREVIATIONS AND STITCHES IN PATTERN

ch(s) = chain(s)

st(s) = stitch(es)

sl st(s) = slip stitch(es)

sc = single crochet

hdc = half double crochet

dc = double crochet

cl(s) = cluster(s)

3dc cl = 3dc cluster

2 3dc cls = two 3dc clusters

 

SPECIAL STITCHES:

Granny Stitch: *3dc in space between 2 3dc cl, skip 3 dc* Repeat from * to *.

 

The Crabstitch: A crabstitch is a single crochet backwards. So you crochet from the left to the right. The stitch is also called reverse single crochet stitch.
